How To Check SASSA Payment Schedule For August 2022
These are the changes to the SRD that were Gazetted yesterday. These changes only take effect from the 1st August 2022.
Further explanation will follow in the next few days. Press release will follow this evening. How To Check SASSA Payment Schedule For August 2022
1. Increased means test from R350 to R624.
-This means that from August you cannot be declined unless you have more than R624 that they pick up no longer R350
2. Removed need for re-application every 3 months.
-This means that YOU DO NOT have to reapply or reconfirm every 3 months going forward and this has eventually been scrapped.
3. Removed the use of banking checks over database checks to decide eligibility if conflicting.
This means that running bank account checks will not be the determining factor. This point I need to go into more detail about.
At this stage we do not see this making any difference ,This is what we adding into our Press release to try and explain this.
On this point the regulation needs more clarity when it comes to the use of or relationship between bank verification and the use of databases such as UIF, SARS ,NSFAS etc. These database have serious flaws and approximately 40% of beneficiaries have been unfairly declined due to this.
Bank verification with the means testing will remain a huge problem going forward as any funds received into a bank account or Via Cash send or money markets is considered an income. This is the reason why approximately 70% of declined applicants have been declined with an Alternative Source of Income Identified. This also includes caregivers who only receive a child grant.
No clear distinction is made between an income and help or monies received. Some examples of these are monies sent by family members or friends, loans taken out ; Child grants received as well as child maintenance; Outstanding SRD monies mainly on those whose reconsiderations were overturned and were paid are also included as income and those that have had to sell their belongings to tide them over until such time as the grant is paid. These are not a source of income but measures to sustain these Beneficiaries until such time as the grant is paid over
The change in the status of the bank verification does little to address these issues.
4. Prevented new clause that would allow DSD Minister & National Treasury to change means test amounts at will.
This is self explanatory .
5. SRD amount stays at R350.00
Please note members The amount you are paid for each month is still R350.
