SAB Packaging Learnership Programme (NQF Level 3)

South African Breweries (SAB) is inviting applications for its Packaging Learnership Programme, offering unemployed individuals the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in food and beverage packaging.

This learnership provides valuable workplace experience within one of South Africa’s leading manufacturing companies, while equipping learners with practical and theoretical skills needed in the packaging and production environment.

About the SAB Packaging Learnership

The Packaging Learnership leads to a National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging at NQF Level 3. Successful candidates will be appointed on a one-year fixed-term contract, during which they will complete both on-the-job and off-the-job training.

The programme combines classroom-based learning with practical workplace exposure, allowing learners to apply theory in real production environments and build industry-relevant skills.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes

Learners will take part in a structured learning programme that includes:

– On-the-job training within SAB’s packaging operations
– Off-the-job theoretical learning to support workplace application
– Practical skills development aligned to unit standards
– Ongoing assessments to measure workplace competence

The learnership is designed to develop value-adding skills that meet workplace requirements and national qualification standards.

Learnership Structure

– Leads to a nationally recognised qualification registered on the NQF
– Based on SAQA-registered unit standards
– Includes clearly defined learning outcomes and assessment criteria
– Competence is demonstrated in the workplace using multiple assessment methods

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the SAB Packaging Learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

– Minimum Matric certificate with Mathematics and English
– Technical qualifications such as N3, N4, N5 or N6 will be an advantage
– Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
– Ability to work effectively and interact well within a team environment
