There are 9 Learnership positions available now with Netcare to train as a Pharmacist’s Assistant.

Netcare is inviting applications for its Pharmacist Assistant Learnership Programme. This opportunity is ideal for unemployed individuals who want to gain practical experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy environment while working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

The Pharmacist Assistant Learner will support the provision of medication and supplementary pharmacy services to patients and healthcare professionals. The role focuses on delivering safe, responsible and cost-effective patient care.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
• Core Mathematics, English and Life Science

Skills:
• Computer literacy
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Additional Requirements:
• Must be currently unemployed
• Must not be registered for any other SETA learnership
• Willing to work shifts

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

• Participate in cyclical and full stock-take processes
• Assist with procurement and ethical stock control
• Process stock for internal departments and inter-clinic sales
• Manage stock in line with Netcare’s Stock Management Policy
• Follow up on outstanding medication for patients
• Perform administrative and housekeeping duties
• Ensure compliance with regulations set by the South African Pharmacy Council
• Carry out duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or supervising Pharmacist

Medication Dispensing And Patient Care

• Assist the pharmacist with dispensing medication
• Pick and package medicine under supervision
• Capture dispensed items on patient accounts in line with medical aid rules
• Update patient profiles and prescriptions on the Unisolve system
• Assist with monthly chronic medicine recalls

Teamwork And Professional Development

• Work collaboratively within the pharmacy and healthcare team
• Maintain professional conduct at all times
• Actively participate in training and personal development
• Stay up to date with Netcare policies and procedures

Working Environment

The learnership requires flexibility in working hours to support daily pharmacy operations. Learners will interact with both internal and external stakeholders, including patients and healthcare professionals.
