SASSA Grants Increases In April , approximately 46% of the population are beneficiaries of a social grant. This means that 27.8 million South Africans are social grant receivers .Minister of Finance Enoch G announced that social grants will increase above the inflation rate. Announcement was made during the inaugural Budget Speech 2022 .
Here Are SASSA Grants Increases For April 2022
- Old Age grant will increase to R1 985 from R1 890
- Old Age grant (above 75 years old) and War Veterans grant will increase to R2 005 from R1 910
- Care Dependency grant will increase to R1 985 from R1 890
- Foster Care grant will increase to R1 070 from R1 050
- Child Support Grant will increase to R480 from the current R460
Minister Enoch G. revealed that the Department of Social Development will receive the largest allocation of R58.6 billion over the medium term
In the 2022 Budget Review explained that the total number of grant beneficiaries in the country will increase by an average of 1.5%. It means that the amount of grant recipients will increase from 18.4 million in 2021/2022 to 19.2 million in 2024/25.
The Amount mentioned above do not include the 10.5 million beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant. “The child support and old age grants together account for more than half of total grant expenditure over the MTEF period. These grants will support a total of 17.2 million beneficiaries in 2022/23,” revealed the document.

- Old Age grant will increase to R1 985 from R1 890 (5% increase)
- Old Age grant (above 75 years old) and War Veterans grant will increase to R2 005 from R1 910 (5% increase)
- Care Dependency grant will increase to R1 985 from R1 890 (5% increase)
- Foster Care grant will increase to R1 070 from R1 050 to (1.9% increase)
- Child Support Grant will increase to R480 from the current R460 (4.3% increase)
