Tips to consider when preparing your CV and Cover Letter:

1. Your CV should present not only your skills, but also give a few hints into the type of person you are.
2. CVs should not be long winded with unnecessary detail, pages or irrelevant information. Do not just attach your CV in a blank email.
3. The most common mistake all job applicants make, is sending off their CV without a suitable introductory cover letter.
4. Read the job description for the position you are applying for. Write your cover letter to suit the job. In other words, if you are a Receptionist applying for a Personal Assistant position, then you need to enhance your skills and character in line with the job description for the Personal Assistant.
5. If you do not show that you have the skills and character for this position, your CV will simply be ignored.
6. Remember both your Cover letter and your CV are business documents. They need to be presented in a professional manner. Avoid using slang, abbreviations and repetition.
7. Your Cover letter is the first glimpse into your CV. It needs to raise a curiousness in the reader to want to know more about you and to open and read your CV.
8. If your cover letter and CV is all pretty looking but lacks the critical depth of information to raise an interest in you, then you will never get that call for an interview.
