SASSA Status Check For R350 Payment Dates 2024 . SASSA Payment Dates for January 2024

More than 25 million people will be paid social grants from Sassa during the month of January. Here’s when all Sassa grants will be paid during the first month of 2024. 

The (Sassa) disburses more than 19 million permanent grants to vulnerable people living in South Africa every month. With January fast approaching, Sassa has confirmed the grant payment dates.

Sassa grants play a pivotal role in providing support to vulnerable individuals and families in South Africa through the distribution of grants from the South African government. Grants assist families to afford basic goods and services.

Their grants include the 

  • Older Persons pension grant, 
  • Disability grants
  • War Veterans grant
  • Care Dependency grant,
  • Foster Child grant,
  • Child Support grant,
  • Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

Whereas Sassa endeavours to pay grants from the second day of the month, this is not possible in January 2024. Grants will therefore be paid from the third day of the new year. 

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For January

  • Older Persons Grant – 3 January 2024
  • Disability Grants – 4 January 2024 
  • Children’s Grants – 5 January 

How Much Is January Sassa Grants?

  • Older Persons grant: R2,090
  • Older Persons (75 years and older): R2,110
  • Disability grant: R2,090
  • War Veterans grant: R2,110
  • Child Support grant: R510
  • Child Support grant (Top-up): R510 + R250
  • Care Dependency grant: R2,090
  • Foster Care grant: R1,130
  • Grant-In-Aid: R510
  • Social Relief of Distress Grant: R350

SRD Grant Payment Dates for January

SRD grants will be paid to beneficiaries from 25 January to 31 January. During the payment week, Sassa encourages beneficiaries to ;

check their Sassa payment status on the SRD website for the exact payment date.

Sassa reminds grant recipients that even if your payment status is correct it takes around 2-3 working days for their funds to reflect in the beneficiaries’ account after the payment has been processed.

Collecting Sassa Grants

Sassa advises beneficiaries not to rush withdrawals on the first available day, emphasising that the money remains in their accounts until needed. 

Beneficiaries can collect grants through bank accounts, retail outlets, mobile cash pay points, and Sassa Gold Cards, which have extended validity.

How Will I Know If Sassa Has Paid My Grant?

There are a few ways you can check if Sassa has made the payment for your:

  1. Check your bank account: If you receive the monthly payment of your Sassa grant through an account at a bank, you can check your account to see if the payment has been made. You can do this by logging into your online banking portal or checking your account balance at an ATM.

  2. Use the Sassa payment inquiry tool: Sassa has an online payment inquiry tool that you can use to check the status of your grant payment. To use the tool, you will need to enter your ID number and select your payment type (such as social grant, child support grant, or foster care grant).

  3. Contact Sassa: When you have Sassa grant enquiries about your Sassa payment status, or anything else you can contact Sassa directly to inquire about the status of your grant payment. You can do this by calling their toll-free number on 0800 60 10 11, visiting your nearest Sassa office, or sending an email to grantenquiries@sassa.gov.za.

  4. However, this method may take the longest, so use this option as a last resort. 

  5. Check your mobile phone: If you have registered to receive SMS notifications from Sassa, you may receive an SMS notification when the payment of your has been made.

It’s important to note that Sassa processes grant payments on specific dates each month, depending on the type of grant you receive. You can find out the payment dates for your specific grant type by visiting the Sassa website or contacting Sassa directly.

There are millions of South African citizens receiving financial assistance in the form of social grants to help improve their standard of living. Social grants are administered by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

The Sassa grant is provided to eligible individuals who are in need of financial support. The grant is intended to provide assistance to individuals who are unable to support themselves or their families due to poverty, disability or old age.

Sassa payments to grant beneficiaries in various ways, whether it be through your Sassa Card, through Cash Send and even directly into your account.

Get Your Sassa Grant Sent Directly To Your Account

Permanent Sassa Grants

The following steps are applicable to permanent beneficiaries of the following grants:

  • Grant for older age persons
  • Disability grant
  • War veterans grant
  • Care dependency grant
  • Foster child grant
  • Child support grant
  • Grant-in-aid

Beneficiaries who wish to receive their grants through their own personal bank accounts need to complete a Sassa Annexure C (bank form) requesting for their grant to be paid directly to their banking account. This form can be obtained from any Sassa office or downloaded online.

It is important to note that the bank form cannot be submitted via an online platform. The form needs to be completed by the beneficiary and the bank he/she has chosen and once completed returned to the Sassa office.

Grant recipients will have to:

  1. Print out the form.
  2. Take it to your bank to be filled in and STAMPED.
  3. Submit it to a Sassa local office to be captured and processed
  4. As soon as this written request is processed, Sassa will then deposit the social grant money directly into the bank account.

It is important to note that beneficiaries submit the form to their local Sassa office because they will need to use their biometric information in the form of fingerprints to confirm their request to change their method of payment and bank details.

Social Relief of Distress SRD R350 Grant

When the pandemic hit many South Africans suffered various challenges and financial strains that affected their day to day lives. Some were left jobless and unable to provide for their or their families’ most basic needs.

In response, the government initiated the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to aid people who have insufficient means to improve their standard of living.

Since the rollout of the grant, the government has called on beneficiaries to choose that the payment be made to their bank accounts for convenience and so that they can access it from anywhere.

How to add or change banking details for R350 Grant on srd.sassa.gov.za

  1. Visit the SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Choose to proceed under the ‘South African ID Holders’ section
  3. Scroll down to the “How do I change my banking details” section
  4. Insert your ID number
  5. An SMS containing the Sassa banking details link will be sent to the mobile phone number used when registering for the SRD application.
  6. Open the banking details link in the SMS 
  7. Capture Bank name.
  8. Capture Account type.
  9. Capture Account number.
  10. Click Submit.

Another important thing to note is that if you select for the grant payment to go into a bank account, you have to make sure that you submit your own banking account details, as Sassa will not be able to pay your grant into another person’s bank account.
