Unitrans Truck Driver Learnership Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have a valid Code EC driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP), including categories D, G and P.
- Must provide a certified copy of their Matric certificate.
- Must be medically fit.
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- A degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, transport economics or a related field will be advantageous.

What The Unitrans Truck Driver Learnership Includes
The Truck Driver Learnership will run for approximately 12 to 18 months and combines theoretical learning with practical workplace training.
Successful candidates will:
- Complete a structured programme combining classroom theory, on-the-job training and practical driving experience.
- Attend compulsory face-to-face classroom training and achieve the required competencies.
- Complete a minimum of 100 practical driving hours in the workplace before the final assessment.
- Learn to operate vehicles safely and efficiently while applying legislated road safety and energy-efficiency standards.
- Complete a final assessment to demonstrate competence.
- Complete the compulsory External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA).
The programme is designed to provide aspiring truck drivers with practical experience and the skills required to pursue a career in professional driving and the broader transport industry.
